I think this was a great statement by the Spears family ... in short, what has happened to Doctor/Patient Confidentiality?I hope that the Spears Family can find help that is genuine and not offered for the hopes of "paybacks" later.

After working in the medical field for many years, I was shocked to see Dr. Phil discuss any part of her case, regardless if he was her Dr or a friend, you don't discuss a celebrities personal life struggles with the media. I hope the Spears family sues him and his license to practice are taken away, I don't care for him anyways. Dr. Phil was also reported in the 80's for misconduct.

The more I hear about Dr. Phil the less I like him. It seems that he has abused his power as a community leader and a doctor. It is very sad since so many people listen blindly to what he says.

I really feel he overstepped the boundaries on this one, not just as a dr, but as a decent human being. You've got to wonder what it says about us a society though that makes watching the despair of others be classed as entertainment.

exactly, the videos and in the rag mags. It's just sad. And I have a genuine concern for a mom that cannot keep herself together for her children, I mean, what more motivation do you need then the fear of losing your child? It just shows (to me anyway) how powerful addiction and mental illness is.

Shame on Dr. Phil but sue him? Really dont we already have enough litigation in this society? I think his behavior will come back to bite him in the butt, it already has his show is doing poorly. Who can respect someone who behaves in this way it was inappropriate and in poor taste to talk about this personal issue.
